Austin Gamblers: Professional Bull Riding in Austin

Austin has its own team in an unexpected professional sport: bull riding. The Austin Gamblers compete in PBR Teams, a competition where groups of riders face other franchises in head-to-head games, giving fans a team-based twist on professional rodeo-style action.

About the Austin Gamblers

The Gamblers joined PBR Teams when the competition launched in 2022. The franchise won the 2024 PBR Teams championship and has featured internationally known riders, including Jose Vitor Leme.

In the team format, successful eight-second rides contribute to the team’s score. The event combines individual athletic skill and the unpredictable nature of bull riding with a match-style competition between cities.

Gambler Days at Moody Center

The Gamblers’ signature home event, Gambler Days, is held at Moody Center in Austin. In 2026, the event ran August 21–23, bringing all ten PBR Teams franchises to the city for multiple days of competition.

Moody Center is located near the University of Texas campus and is also home to Longhorns basketball. Bull-riding events may use their own seating configurations and arena entry arrangements, so review the event’s specific ticket and venue information.

What to Expect

Professional bull riding is an intense spectator event: each attempt is brief, but the buildup, rider introductions and final scores make the experience feel much larger. The team aspect allows fans to follow Austin’s standing against visiting squads instead of simply watching unrelated rides.

Fans new to the sport can start by learning the eight-second qualification rule and how the rides are judged. Event announcers generally explain the action along the way.

Tickets and Schedule

The PBR Teams season and each year’s Austin event dates can change. Visit the official team page to follow results, rider rosters and announced home dates.

Tips for Families and First-Time Spectators

The indoor arena setting makes this a weather-independent event, but sound levels can be high during introductions and rides. Families with young children may want to bring hearing protection. If you are visiting Moody Center for the first time, look up parking garages and traffic restrictions around campus; major events can create heavy congestion even when classes are not in session.
