The original famous party strip in Austin is still home to great live music 7 days a week and some cool bars with great drink specials during happy hour. It’s more of a late night party place. You can find some cheap beer and cocktails, hear some rock and roll, and ride a mechanical bull. “Dirty Sixth” is considered the area west of 1-35 to about Congress St and a block or two north and south of 6th. Depending on who you talk to Red River, 2nd St, and Colorado St bars may or may not be considered dirty 6th. Over the years, it’s become a little shadier and thus has earned the not so flattering kick name. West 6th, Rainy St, and East sixth all surround this famous OG party strip.

Staff’s Favorite Bars on Dirth 6th Street
To be honest, we don’t’ spend too much time on the OG 6th Street anymore. One of the coolest events they had Pecan St Festival was moved out of here in 2025, that was a major bummer. Anyway, the Driskle Hotel Bar is a classy really cool place, though typically not a happy hour stop. The Roosevelt Room also a classy joint, and the happy hour spot of choice when do venture to Dirty 6th
