Texas Ranchers Pickleball: Austin’s Major League Pickleball Team

Pickleball has grown quickly throughout Austin, and the Texas Ranchers give the city a professional team to follow. The Ranchers compete in Major League Pickleball (MLP), where mixed-gender teams face one another in doubles matches and tiebreaking competition.

Major League Pickleball in Austin

Austin helped launch the team-based professional pickleball movement. The city’s modern scene includes indoor courts, recreational leagues and a dedicated fan base that enjoys seeing top-level players compete in person.

The Texas Ranchers represent the Austin area in MLP and participate in events around the United States. In addition to professional matches, the organization promotes local community activities and opportunities to learn the game.

The 2026 MLP Austin Event

The 2026 Major League Pickleball Austin event ran June 11–14 at Austin Pickle Ranch, 11000 Middle Fiskville Road, Building B. The hometown Texas Ranchers finished third in the event standings, behind the New Jersey 5s and Columbus Sliders.

The competition brought other professional teams to Austin and included opportunities for amateur and junior players through related programming.

What Is Team Pickleball?

Pickleball is played on a compact court with paddles and a lightweight plastic ball. In team competition, players participate in doubles matchups rather than a single individual tournament bracket. The format is accessible for spectators who have played recreational pickleball and want to see the sport at its highest level.

Most recreational players can find instruction and open play at facilities around town without joining a professional organization.

Austin as a Pickleball Destination

The professional matches are only one part of Austin’s pickleball culture. Public parks and indoor clubs make it easy to find open play and organized leagues at many skill levels. Spectators who already know the recreational game will recognize the importance of serve returns, positioning at the kitchen line and coordinated doubles play. Watching the professionals is a useful way to learn better shot selection and movement.
