Texas Volts: Professional Women’s Softball in Round Rock

Central Texas added another professional sports attraction in 2026 when the Texas Volts established a permanent home in Round Rock. The Volts compete in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), bringing high-level women’s fastpitch softball to Dell Diamond.

About the Texas Volts

The AUSL began competition in 2025 and moved toward a home-city format in 2026, with teams including the Texas Volts, Chicago Bandits, Carolina Blaze, Oklahoma City Spark, Portland Cascade and Utah Talons. The league creates a professional path for players after college and has received support from Major League Baseball.

Round Rock was selected as a permanent home market after local crowds showed strong interest in professional softball. The team gives Austin-area fans an additional reason to visit Dell Diamond outside of minor-league baseball.

Softball at Dell Diamond

The Volts play at Dell Diamond, 3400 East Palm Valley Boulevard in Round Rock, the same ballpark used by the Round Rock Express. The Texas Volts’ 2026 home opener was scheduled for June 18 against the Utah Talons, and the club hosted a series of home dates during the summer.

Visitors should review the softball-specific seating chart, parking instructions and any venue modifications rather than assuming every baseball detail carries over to softball.

A Great Addition to Women’s Sports in Austin

Austin already supports a wide range of women’s college sports, but a permanent professional softball club creates another place to see elite athletes compete in person. It also offers youth softball players a nearby example of a possible professional future.

Players with connections to the University of Texas and other regional programs help make professional softball especially interesting to Central Texas fans.

Tickets and Future Seasons

Professional softball’s season traditionally centers on summer, but the league can adjust its format and dates. Check the official AUSL calendar for new season announcements, rosters and broadcast information.

What Is Different About Fastpitch Softball?

Softball uses a smaller playing field than professional baseball and pitchers deliver the ball underhand. Games can move quickly, with bunts, stolen bases and strong defensive play making every inning interesting. New spectators can enjoy the sport without knowing every rule; watch the pitch count, base runners and defensive positioning to follow the strategy.
